🌍 H2O Warriors in Action: BIG BUCKET Joins LTTA in Lithuania

As part of the Erasmus+ project “H2O Warriors – We Are Leading the Wave of Water Sustainability”, BIG BUCKET proudly took part in a week-long Learning, Teaching, and Training Activity (LTTA) in Šiauliai, Lithuania, from 19–23 May 2025. This international exchange brought together passionate educators and learners from Ireland, Lithuania, Romania, and Türkiye to collaborate on one of the most pressing global issues: water sustainability.

💧 About the Project

Funded under Erasmus+ KA210-SCH, H2O Warriors is a two-year initiative that aims to:

  • Promote responsible water use in schools and communities
  • Foster eco-conscious behaviours through education
  • Develop digital tools and creative campaigns to raise awareness
  • Encourage cross-border collaboration and youth leadership

BIG BUCKET is one of the key partners alongside Școala Gimnazială Octav Băncilă Corni (Romania – Coordinator), Siauliu Jovaro Progymnazija (Lithuania), and Acıpayam Sefer Demir Bilim ve Sanat Merkezi (Türkiye).

📅 Highlights from the LTTA in Lithuania

The meeting, hosted by Siauliu Jovaro Progymnazija, offered a vibrant and immersive agenda focused on water sustainability, education, and intercultural exchange.

Day 1 – Welcome & Workshops

Participants were warmly welcomed at the host school before attending a workshop titled “Water for Our Future” at the local Technological Centre. It explored innovative approaches to environmental education, followed by a sweet twist—an educational session at the Rūta Chocolate Museum’s Sweet Lab.

Day 2 – Discovering Palanga

An excursion to Palanga featured visits to Olando Kepurė, the beautiful parklands, the famous Amber Museum, and the scenic Palanga Boulevard. The day combined nature, culture, and discussions around Lithuania’s unique water ecosystems.

Day 3 – Water Presentations & School Exchange

Back at Jovaras Progymnazija, students from primary to secondary levels showcased presentations on water sustainability in their local contexts. This was followed by a tour of the school and a cultural trip to the iconic Hill of Crosses.

Day 4 – Klaipėda & the Baltic Sea

Participants journeyed to Klaipėda, where they explored the old town, then enjoyed a boat ride with a marine biodiversity expert. A visit to the Sea Museum and a live dolphin show offered both inspiration and a vivid example of marine conservation in action.

Day 5 – Closing & Certificates

The week concluded with a farewell brunch and certificate ceremony at Park Hotel Šiauliai, celebrating the shared achievements and lasting connections made.

🇮🇪 BIG BUCKET’s Contribution

Our three Irish participants represented BIG BUCKET with energy, creativity, and commitment. They actively engaged in workshops, shared sustainability practices from Ireland, and built new partnerships with fellow educators across Europe.

The LTTA provided rich insights and experiences that will now be brought back to our school community to strengthen our own H2O Warriors initiatives. From student-led campaigns to digital learning tools, BIG BUCKET is more inspired than ever to continue leading the wave of water sustainability. 🌊
